What we assess

Clear answers for your child's future

Every assessment is tailored to your child's needs and delivered in a warm, child-friendly environment. Here's what we offer and what you can expect.

Cognitive Assessment (IQ)

Understanding how your child thinks and learns

Cognitive Assessment (IQ)

A cognitive assessment measures your child's intellectual abilities — how they process information, solve problems, and reason. It gives a detailed picture of their strengths and areas of challenge.

Who is it for?

This assessment is suitable for children where there are questions about learning potential, suspected giftedness, or concerns about intellectual development.

What to expect

The assessment involves a series of engaging, game-like tasks completed one-on-one with the psychologist. It typically takes 2–3 hours across one or two sessions.

Outcomes

You'll receive a detailed written report outlining your child's cognitive profile, with practical recommendations for school and home support.

ADHD assessment

Understanding attention, focus, and behaviour

ADHD assessment

An ADHD assessment evaluates your child's attention, concentration, impulse control, and activity levels to determine whether ADHD is present and how it affects their daily life.

Who is it for?

Suitable for children showing signs of inattention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that are impacting school, friendships, or family life. Please note: Psychologists are not able to prescribe medication. Our reports can be taken to a paediatrician or psychiatrist to support pharmacological intervention.

What to expect

The process includes parent and teacher questionnaires, a developmental interview, and learning assessment tasks with your child. Information from multiple sources is essential for an accurate picture.

Outcomes

You'll receive a comprehensive report, practical strategies for home, school, and if relevant, guidance on next steps for medical review.

Specific Learning Disorder assessment

Understanding how your child reads, writes, and works with numbers

Specific Learning Disorder assessment

A Specific Learning Disorder (SLD) assessment identifies whether your child has a recognised learning difficulty — such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, or dyscalculia — that is affecting their progress at school despite adequate instruction and effort.

Who is it for?

For children who are working hard but struggling with reading, spelling, writing, or maths in ways that don't match their general ability. Often sought when a child is described as bright but underperforming, or when school support hasn't been enough.

What to expect

The assessment includes cognitive testing, academic achievement measures across reading, writing, and numeracy, and a review of developmental and educational history. It typically takes 2–3 hours across one or two sessions.

Outcomes

You'll receive a detailed report identifying any specific learning disorders, your child's academic profile, and targeted recommendations for school-based adjustments, tutoring approaches, and support strategies.

Autism spectrum assessment

Understanding your child's unique way of experiencing the world

Autism spectrum assessment

An autism spectrum assessment looks at your child's social communication, sensory processing, and behaviour patterns to determine whether they meet criteria for autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

Who is it for?

For children who show differences in social interaction, communication, sensory sensitivity, or repetitive behaviours. Please note: dual diagnosis with a Paediatrician is essential for WA Department of Education funding requirements.

What to expect

The assessment includes behaviour checklist, standardised observation tools (ADOS-2), parent interview, and review of developmental history. It is thorough and typically takes 3–4 hours across multiple sessions.

Outcomes

The report provides a clear diagnostic conclusion, a profile of your child's strengths and support needs, and recommendations for school, therapy, and NDIS access if applicable.
